The Challenge

NSK has an ongoing commitment to provide training opportunities for its employees, including both mandatory courses as well as personal and professional development training. NSK’s policy allows employees to request and attend a multitude of courses offered through its Training department.

However, with the wide range of shift schedules, travel schedules, employee availability, and selection of classes, NSK needed some way to make those classes available at any time, with a simple, pick-and-go interface.

The Solution

Cimulus developed a fully-configurable on-line testing application that allows an employee to sign on, select a course, and take the test, all without any direct interaction from Training. Courses can be presented as PowerPoint or Director Presentations, On-Line video, or any number of other options, with the tests automatically administered and scored after completion of material. NSK can quickly review what classes have been taken and the performance on each, by course or employee. The system is integrated with NSK’s internal employee database, allowing for quick assignment of mandatory courses for entire classes of employees.

Benefits

The e-learning system is accessible through NSK’s corporate intranet, and can be used by any employee with desktop access. NSK’s long-term plan is to add PC kiosks to plant floors as well, expanding access to the system to all employees. Tests can be administered and verified with just a few moments’ work for Training, greatly simplifying its compliance with state and federal regulations.
